Government Rose Garden
Located just 3.8 km from Blue Bells Villa, the Government Rose Garden is one of Ooty’s most beautiful attractions and a paradise for flower lovers. Spread across 4 hectares on the scenic slopes of Elk Hill, the garden is designed with multiple terraces featuring charming rose tunnels, pergolas, bowers, and beautifully landscaped pathways.
Established to commemorate the Centenary Flower Show, the garden is home to more than 3,000 varieties of roses, making it one of the largest rose collections in India. Visitors can admire Hybrid Tea Roses, Floribunda Roses, Miniature Roses, Ramblers, and even rare roses in unique shades such as black and green, creating a spectacular display of colors and fragrances throughout the blooming season.
One of the garden’s highlights is the Nila Maadam Viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the entire rose garden and the surrounding hills. Maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department, the garden received the prestigious Award of Excellence for the Best Rose Garden in South Asia from the International Rose Society in 2006.
